Creating Hours for busy parents and professionals.
Creating Hours for busy parents and professionals.
Oftentimes, a frenzied pace takes over our days as we frantically attempt to squeeze chauffeuring two children to three different after-school-activities, grocery shopping, a stop at the ATM machine, picking up the shirts at the cleaners, returning library books, and a mad rush to ship a package before the Post Office closes. Simultaneously, we are fielding phone calls from seven or eight important people and an additional dozen callers of lesser degrees of prestige. Text messages and emails cause our Blackberries to beep nonstop as we juggle the lifestyle of a busy 21st-century parent. Does it have to be this way? Does everything have to be rushed? When do we get a chance to slow down? Despite the vast array of time-saving devices throughout our modern homes (I can count four on the kitchen counter alone), we find our time scarcer than ever before.

Insect Lore
Looking for some fun and creative ideas for teaching your kids about nature and science? Check out Insect Lore’s website: www.insectlore.com. There are many fantastic toys and educational items that expose kids to the world of nature in an exciting hands-on way. They have everything from butterfly and ladybug habitats, where you can observe these creatures go through their transformation to adult bugs, ready to be released into your garden. We enjoyed the Butterfly Garden, where we watched caterpillars change from chrysalis and again into beautiful little butterflies. My kids enjoyed having the butterflies perch on their hand before they flew away into our back yard. Insect Lore also sells plant growing kits, including the Carnivorous Creations where kids can grow their own bug-eating plants, like the Venus Fly Trap. Their site also has interesting interactive games and activities, some of which are helpful guides for their products and experiments. Cathy
A stunningly beautiful little film about Lourdes.
The new independent film “Saint Bernadette of Lourdes” from Navis Pictures: http://www.navispictures.com/category_s/20.htm is a charming presentation of the life of Saint Bernadette of Lourdes starring Children. The film is done with exceptionally well crafted cinematography and entrancing story telling. We purchased this film for Children (3 and 8 years old ) because they knew several of the children in the film and delighted with the quality craftsmanship and charm of this film. The story of Lourdes is told with significant integrity to the original story of this famous 1856 Marian apparition. The young girl playing Bernadette does a very touching portrayal with an attractive manner displaying a radiant disposition in every scene. The comic asides and general playfulness of the film draws Children into the story with a very light sweet natured touch. We really recommend acquiring this gem for your own DVD collection. - Andy
